Hurricane Bill not forecast to hit N.C. coast
Rain is in the forecast for Greenville this coming weekend, but it won’t be the tropical variety, the National Weather Service in Newport said Monday.
Hurricane Bill, now churning deep in the Atlantic, is expected to remain far off the North Carolina coast, said meteorologist James Wingenroth.
However, a front pushing its way east and expected to arrive in eastern North Carolina on Sunday will be heralded by rains later in the week and early weekend, he said. With that front approaching, Hurricane Bill is expected to be remain 600 miles southeast of Cape Hatteras on Saturday before turning northeast, Wingenroth said.
“As it stands now, Hurricane Bill isn’t really going to be affecting us other than maybe some increased wave heights and swells along the coast,” he said.
