The Inland Coastal Region or
Inner Banks Area of North Carolina
|
The inland coastal region of eastern North Carolina lies between Interstate 95 to the West, the North Carolina Outer Banks to the east, and runs from the Virginia border to the North, and the South Carolina border to the South. In contrast to the Outer Banks, or the outlying islands off the Eastern North Carolina coast, the interior region immediately behind the islands has been branded the Inner Banks™ of North Carolina. (Read more about the marketing initiative of the Foundation of Renewal for Eastern North Carolina or www.forenc.com).
There are 41 counties lying within this pristine, natural coastal region, which is three times larger than the state of New Jersey. Because North Carolina is so desirable to retirees and professionals, North Carolina recently overtook New Jersey as the 10th largest state in the United States. North Carolina is projected to surpass Ohio, Georgia and Michigan in size by 2030. At Inner Banks Living, we believe North Carolina real estate represents one of the best real estate investment property opportunities available anywhere in the world today and that North Carolina real estate offers “a lifestyle worth sharing."
Resplendent with natural beauty and predominantly unspoiled, the North Carolina inner banks are like a diamond waiting to be buffed to brilliance. Take a step back into time when you visit a main street of one of the cities, towns or charming villages in the inland coastal region known as the inner banks.
The NC inner banks geographical area reportedly has 3,000 miles of inland coastline and is home to over 2.5 million residents. This area is at the very heart of North Carolina history, with the town of Bath in Beaufort County being the first colonial capital of North Carolina. The pirate Blackbeard (or Edward Teach) frequented Bath and reportedly kept a home there. In addition, Blackbeard often stayed at the Hammock House in Beaufort, NC, and he enjoyed "pig pickin's" with the other buccaneers on Ocracoke Island.
